What are workshop cards for?

Only with the workshop card can the authorised garages activate the tachograph the first time it is used, and calibrate it to include the vehicle’s characteristics.

What is the activation for?

The activation makes the tachograph fully operational. To activate the tachograph, a workshop card is inserted before the vehicle leaves the manufacturing or assembly plant.

What is calibration?

Calibration is when the tachograph is set to measure accurately the speed of the vehicle, and when information on the license number, tyre size, chassis number, date and time, etc. is entered.
